A young man who admitted to having sex with a 15-year-old girl revealed that he initially blamed the victim, but has since changed his mind.

Liam Huxley, 22, had attended a party on the New South Wales Central Coast in 2017 when he & # 39; violently & # 39; had sex with the girl, who suffered from scratching her back.

He pleaded guilty to two intercourse points with a person over the age of 14 and under the age of 16 – after allegations of aggravated sexual violence were dropped, the Daily Telegraph reported.

During the sentencing in the Gosford District Court on Tuesday, he told the court how he initially blamed the girl after he lost two jobs when he was charged.

He told the court that he has now changed his attitude towards the victim and can see it from her side.

Huxley told the court that he had seen a psychologist, which had helped change his position.

& # 39; After the guilty plea, I started to see it from her point of view. I think about how I was when I was 15. It really helped me see the other side of it, & he said.

Character references from Huxley & # 39; s father, former Central Coast mariner Matthew Crowell and Gosford City FC Premier League manager Col Seggie were presented to the court.

The crown has insisted on a full-time prison sentence, but Huxley's lawyer has argued for a Community Correction Order with conditions such as curfew and rehabilitation methods.

Huxley will be sentenced in court on 31 May.
