A cleaning guru has shared her homemade formula that eliminates mold in the shower and prevents it from returning.

Chantel Mila, from Melbourne, revealed a simple way to combat mold was one of her most requested tricks.

She creates a recipe to kill mold using just two tablespoons of dish soap, hydrogen peroxide, and six to eight drops of tea tree oil.

The mother of two pours all the ingredients into a dish brush and scrubs the bathroom grout.

“The dish brush makes cleaning very quick and easy, while the hydrogen peroxide and dish soap remove tough dirt and mold,” he said in a video.

Why and where does mold grow?

Generally, if you can see or smell mold, you should clean and remove it immediately, as mold can damage the surfaces it grows on. The more it grows, the more damage it can cause.

Mold only grows when there is sufficient moisture. When mold appears, the first task is to try to establish where the moisture is coming from.

The mom shared that you can use the mixture on grout, tile, and even the shower door seal.

You usually rub the solution all over and let it soak for 15 minutes before rinsing it off.

Clove oil is also a suitable substitute for tea tree oil when it comes to removing mold from your home.

The mother noted that it was essential to exercise discretion before using essential oils in homes with pets or small children because some of them could be toxic.

The mold removal recipe uses two tablespoons of dish soap, hydrogen peroxide, and tea tree oil.
