People are allowed to leave their home for essential activities such as grocery shopping, doctor visits and walks in their neighborhood, but they are encouraged to stay at least two meters away from others.

While announcing the order, Mayor Eric Garcetti said residents are “entering a new way of life in Los Angeles.”

“This is not a shelter like a school shooting. This is staying at home because you are safer at home, ”he added.

“This is not a request. This is an order. “

Some of the other tips from health officials during this COVID-19 crisis include: washing hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using hand sanitizer, covering coughs and sneezes, regularly cleaning touch-sensitive surfaces, and shaking hands.
