When the Swedish-born actress isn’t modeling new looks, she’s working in collaboration with On Our Sleeves, which provides free resources to raise awareness for children struggling with mental health issues.
The mother of one appeared in Good morning America to represent their cause last May.
She recalled her upbringing, when both her mother and brother suffered from depression, and wished she could have understood the condition better at the time.
And one of its goals is to try to “destigmatize” mental health “and the shame that surrounds it.”
“It’s beautiful because you know that children don’t express themselves from the heart in the same way when it comes to what they feel or they don’t have the words to express it,” she explained about the organization.
“They have all the tools and resources, so if they don’t know how to talk to their kids, because we’re not always the best mentors, we don’t know how to have difficult conversations,” she continued.

When the Swedish-born actress isn’t modeling new looks, she’s partnering with On Our Sleeves, which provides free resources to raise awareness for children struggling with mental health issues; seen in early August.
When asked how he gets his own son, Sebastian Zincone, 11, to open up about his feelings, he shared that finding “open moments” works best; Sebastian, Malin, a guest, and Jack Donelly seen in March.
She said: ‘I’ve found that with guys it is said that men talk better when they are shoulder to shoulder and women face to face.
“With little kids… bedtime is a fantastic time for me and my son because the lights are off and there’s no shame in it. It’s really a time of openness.”
In her opinion, everyone has their own time and you also have to give your child the option to say, “Hey, do you want to talk about this? And if not now, when would be a good time?”
Offering her advice to other parents, she said: “We all discover our own time. And you have to give your child the choice too.” Malin, Sebastian and Jack seen in 2023
“So, giving them that power of authority over themselves, but I think finding out what it is that needs to be talked about and if they need help, that’s why (On Our Sleeves) is a great place to start and get your resources,” she concluded.
Malin shares her pre-teen son with her ex-husband, Italian musician Roberto Zincone, from whom she separated in 2013 after nearly six years of marriage.
She has since moved on and married British actor Jack Donnelly, 36, best known for his role in the BBC series Atlantis, during a Mexican ceremony in December 2018.
