The Turnbulls bought the Mediterranean-style home in 1994 for $ 5,425,000 and were renovated shortly afterwards with architect Michael Suttor, Domain.com reported.
Built in the 1930s, it retained many ornate features such as arched roof tiles, arched windows and wrought iron gates.
The exclusive beachfront home was sold by the late socialite Klara Saunders, wife of the late Westfield Holdings CEO John Saunders.
The property has 1940 square meters of land, a swimming pool, a boat shed and a private jetty.
When Turnbull was elected Prime Minister of Australia in 2015, he chose to stay in his sprawling mansion rather than join the long line of Australian leaders who called the Kirribilli House home.
Unlike the Prime Ministers ahead, Mr. Turnbull should have reduced his residence to move to Kirribilli House.
