A teenager was reportedly crushed while playing in old war tunnels near a popular Sydney beach.
The victim, a 13-year-old man, suffered injuries to his legs and arm when a large iron gate fell on him while he was playing in the old war tunnels near Malabar, in the south-east of the city.
Malabar Battery was a coastal defense station built on the Malabar Promontory in 1943 during World War II.

It features a four-story observation post and a series of bunkers and tunnels.
The site fell into disrepair after the war and is now abandoned and covered in graffiti.
“A teenage boy was taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital with a leg injury,” a NSW Ambulance spokesperson said.
New South Wales Police declined to comment.
