‘What if I told you I curl my lashes with a Q-Tip?’ Taormina began the clip. “Would you believe me?”

To kick things off, she began by applying two coats of Rare Beauty mascara to ‘both sides’ of her natural, uncurled lashes.

“Now, if your lashes aren’t naturally curled, this might not work for you, but I still want you to try it,” the influencer warned before getting into it.

She then took out her Q-Tip and asked viewers to make sure they used the swab while their lashes were still wet from the mascara.

“I take my Q-Tip and go in right at the base of my lashes,” she said as she moved the center of the swab along her lashes.

“While it’s wet, I go and curl my lashes,” she continued. ‘What it will do is remove all the excess product from the lashes and also give my lashes a natural curl.’

Then she took the sharp edge of the cotton swab and pressed it repeatedly against her lashes.

“While those lashes are still wet, I curl them into place without being aggressive with a metal lash curler, and I remove the excess mascara,” she said.

Samantha’s tips for curling lashes

  • Begin by applying two coats of mascara
  • While still wet, run the center of the Q-Tip along the lashes in an upward motion
  • Then take the edge of the Q-Tip and press it along the lash line

After she finished curling with a Q-Tip, she showed how it looked compared to her pristine lashes.

The difference was very noticeable – her right eyelashes appeared curled and lifted, while the left was still straight.

“Look at the difference in my lashes, all with a Q-tip,” raved the beauty expert.

“It’s my secret weapon.”

In the comments section of her TikTok, many users seemed quite impressed with the unusual hack, while others vowed to try it themselves.

‘I’ll have to try it! I ripped my lashes out as a teenager and I’ve never touched an eyelash curler since!!’ wrote a person.

Another agreed: ‘I HAVE TO TRY! Mine are a bit straight, but worth a try!’

‘I have ALWAYS done this or just with my finger.

“My lashes are very long and curly so I’ve never needed a lash curler,” said another.

‘It looks amazing, what a difference. I hate eyelash curlers. Will try it tomorrow!’ one user wrote.

However, Taormina is not the only one with a mascara trick up her sleeve.

In 2019, New York-based Australian Kelly McCarren – a PR and content manager at online clothing store, Showpo – took to YouTube to share some of her makeup hacks.

One of her tips included a way to help remove mascara from your face if you accidentally got a clump on top of your eyelid or on your cheek.

McCarren suggested waiting 10 minutes for the mascara to dry, then going in with an old spoolie to simply flick the mascara off your skin.
