Rachel was the first to bring this trend to life, and many other content creators followed suit.

She captioned the viral clip, which has so far racked up more than 83,000 views: ‘Guys, did I find 12-3-30 to get dressed?’

‘This is what you have to do: three pants, I have a skirt, some jeans and a pair of leather pants. Three tops: I have a tank top, a button-down, and a cardigan. And three (pairs of) shoes: for me it’s square-toe boots, sneakers and flats,” he explained.

At the end of the video, she showed off the nine outfits she was able to create from her choices.

After her clip, people on the app added another category to the method: accessories.

Ayesha, who lives in New York, shared her thoughts on the method and how it helped her when packing her bags.

“I saw a group of girls on TikTok doing this thing called the 333 method and I wanted to show them my packing strategy,” she said.

‘It’s essentially three pants, three shirts and three (pairs of) shoes. And it’s effectively to show you that you can mix and match anything to create multiple different outfits.

She told the outlet: ‘Rule 333 helps address the fear of overpacking, while ensuring you look good.

“An unexpected benefit is that you have an excuse to pick up an item or two on the trip – after all, you are packing light.”

She added that you should choose clothes that you can wear from top to bottom.

“Yes, you can dress up, but certain trips may require more formal clothing, in which case you may have to break the rules,” he explained.

‘By using the 333 rule as a base, you will be more aware in general of how much you carry. Less stuff, less stress and less unnecessary luggage costs.’
