The daughter of former MLB star Greg Swindell has been found safe after being reported missing last week.
The 59-year-old World Series-winning pitcher had asked for help finding his daughter, Brenna, who he said went missing from Austin, Texas, after her ex-boyfriend left a disturbing handwritten note.
On Tuesday, the Texas Longhorn legend told X: “She’s been found. That’s all we have for now. Thank you all. And I mean everyone who helped in the process.”
No additional details have been released and it is unclear whether any arrests have been made.
Swindell and his wife Sarah said they feared the 29-year-old was with her ex-boyfriend, Morgan Guidry, who they say is “violent” and “in trouble with the law since he assaulted her last month.”
Guidry’s father shared a note that his son supposedly left him KVUEwhich read: ‘We’re going on a trip around the world, Morgan and Brenna darlings. See you on the other side.’
Brenna Swindell, the daughter of former MLB star Greg Swindell, was found safe after being reported missing last week. Her family feared she was with her ex-boyfriend, Morgan Guidry (right), who they accuse of being “violent.”
Guidry’s father shared a note his son allegedly left with KVUE, which read: ‘I’m off to travel the world sweetheart Morgan + Brenna, see you on the other side.’
The mother of three was last seen at a bar on State Highway 71; her missing white KIA was reportedly last seen on I-25 in Colorado on Friday night, with possible sightings of Guidry and the pickup truck in Colorado Springs on Sunday night.
They also said Brenna left without making contact with her three children, something they say she would never do without explanation.
“Our daughter Brenna Swindell has not been seen or heard from in the Austin area since Thursday afternoon,” the Swindell family said on Facebook.
‘Her phone is off and she hasn’t been in contact with her family, friends and most importantly her children. Her ex-boyfriend in the photo has a warrant out for him and is violent so PLEASE if you have seen or heard from either of them please let us know. She is driving a white Kia Carnival which has not yet been located.’
They later added an update: “They were spotted together Thursday night and we were able to get a GPS from the KIA which is now in Colorado. Both phones appear to be there but are both turned off. License plate VFS7528 Kia Carnival white.”
The World Series-winning pitcher has made a public plea for help in finding his daughter, Brenna, who he says went missing from Austin, Texas.
Swindell confirmed he had been in contact with Guidry’s father, who had been cooperating and helping with the search.
“Please continue to pray for their safe return,” he added. “Thank you all again.”
A later update from the family confirmed that a missing person report had been filed with the Department of Public Safety and that the Austin Police Department was handling the investigation.
However, the family said they had no further leads beyond the car passing a reader in Colorado on Friday night, as Brenna and Guidry’s phones were turned off.
“Her boyfriend is in trouble with the law again since he assaulted her last month and we don’t know if she ran away with him willingly, or was convinced to run away with him or what. I still think she would never abandon her three children or just run away without explanation. So until we can prove otherwise, we believe she is in danger,” Sarah wrote in a joint Facebook post by the family members.
An update from family confirmed that a missing persons report had been filed with the Austin Police Department’s Department of Public Safety.
Desperate and without any encouraging leads, they continued to urge the public, especially those located in Colorado, to continue coming forward with tips.
“We greatly appreciate all the tips and offers of help from the people of Colorado,” the family said.
“But we have no idea where in Colorado they are, or if they are still there. PLEASE keep sending us any sightings or information.”
Swindell issued another order later Monday morning, asking Idahoans to be on alert, suggesting there is a belief Brenna could be there, too.
Brenna, a hairstylist at an Austin salon, last posted on Facebook on August 13.
Swindell, a Houston native, is a Texas Longhorn legend and former Astros player.
The second overall pick in the 1986 MLB draft made his major league debut just weeks after being selected by the Cleveland Guardians.
Swindell, a former All-Star, posted a 3.86 ERA in his career, pitching for several teams including the Guardians, Reds, Astros, Twins, Red Sox and Diamondbacks.
