A 21-year-old New Zealand woman who disappeared for three days in Bali has been found.

Kaya Awhitu traveled to the Indonesian resort island last Thursday, October 3, but her family asked for help after being unable to locate her since Sunday.

On Wednesday night, a family member shared the news that Ms Awhitu was found by tourists.

‘She was able to contact us. “He is safe with someone we trust,” they said.

The news comes after Indonesian police revealed that Ms Awhitu had never stayed at the accommodation address provided by her family.

“New Zealand woman Kaya Awhitu never stayed at Rumah Surga Villa,” Ubud police chief Gusti Nyoman Sudarsana told Daily Mail Australia.

Police checked the villa on Wednesday morning and discovered that Ms Awhitu had never been a guest there.

“When we received information that she was last seen at Rumah Surga Villa, we have already registered at the villa,” Sudarsana said.

‘All guests staying at Rumah Surga Villa rent the villa on a monthly basis and all guests have stayed there since last year. There was no guest who rented the villa daily.

Relative Shar Roberts said Ms Awhitu’s family became concerned after she was unable to meet her partner to head to their next destination in Bali.

“They were supposed to meet on a barge to go to the next place and she didn’t show up,” he said in a video posted on Facebook.

‘He has returned to the villa where they were staying and everything is packed. We are very worried because since Sunday he has not had contact with anyone, especially with his children.

“If anyone hears anything, they will punish you when we hear from you, but please let us know that your family and friends are really worried.”

Ms Roberts returned to Facebook on Wednesday evening to share the “positive update” Ms Awhitu had found.

“She contacted us… It was a tourist in Bali who saw the post and allowed her to use his phone to call us,” he said.

‘It had been hacked. He got an e-SIM card and his entire phone was hacked.

“You can’t log into your (bank), all your cards have been hacked and you have nothing on you.”

Ms Roberts thanked everyone who shared the post and helped find Ms Awhitu.

“Hopefully we can get it back tomorrow (Thursday),” he said.
