Angel Reese has successfully undergone surgery on the broken wrist that cut short her rookie WNBA season.
Reese revealed Saturday that he would not play again this season after injuring his left wrist.
The 22-year-old suffered the injury in the Chicago Sky’s win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday, landing hard on her hand and suffering a hairline fracture.
On Tuesday night, Sky released a statement reading: ‘Angel Reese has undergone successful surgery on a fractured left wrist and is taking steps towards a healthy recovery.’
Reese will be required to wear a cast for up to six weeks and the team added: “He is expected to begin rehabilitation in the coming weeks.”

The 22-year-old suffered the injury in the Chicago Sky’s win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday.
The 22-year-old had already explained why she underwent the operation: “The doctors told me that I could have the operation or not. The risk of not having the operation was that at 22 I could have arthritis. That was not an option,” she said.
“The bone could literally break and shatter completely. Right now, it’s like a hairline… they’re going to put a little screw in it. And I didn’t want it to get any bigger.”
Earlier this week, Reese was forced to deny rumors that pregnancy was the real reason she would be out for the remainder of the season.
Following speculation that surfaced online, the Chicago Sky star released a statement denying she was expecting children “anytime soon.”
“I’m not pregnant, that’s never been the case,” Reese said. “I want to make that very, very, very clear.”
“I don’t have a man to have kids with. I don’t have a ring to have kids with. I’m 22 years old and I don’t have kids, and I’m not coming home with kids. So that’s not going to happen anytime soon.”
