Major update after eight-year-old girl was allegedly abducted from a regional property in Queensland

Police issued an Amber Alert after an eight-year-old girl (pictured) was abducted on the Sunshine Coast on Friday morning.

A man has been charged after an eight-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped, prompting an urgent Amber Alert.

The girl was allegedly abducted by a 44-year-old man from a Child Safety Services Center in Maroochydore, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, at 10.45am on Thursday.

She was found “unharmed” at a property in Eerwah Vale, 33 kilometers northwest of the Sunshine Coast, at 6pm the same day.

The Coolum Beach man has since been charged with child theft and burglary.

Police allege the girl knows the man.

Acting Queens Police Detective Inspector Scott Wiggins told reporters that the girl “may be at risk of harm” hours before she was found.

The man is due to appear at Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday.
