A major UK retailer is offering 45 minutes of free childcare to shoppers so parents can take advantage of this half-term break to run errands in peace.

While it’s tempting to arrange extra family days with kids out of school, that’s not always an option for large families due to cost.

However, one popular retail brand is on hand to help, thanks to having daycare centers in many of its stores.

Furniture giant IKEA runs a supervised play area called Småland, which means “small lands” in Swedish.

Each child dropped off by IKEA customers receives a seat belt, helping staff identify who has logged into the facility.

Workers will care for children between three and ten years old and allow parents to shop without distractions.

Depending on the retailer, there may sometimes be a wait time for the nursery if it is busy, but parents will be informed of this at the time of registration.

Activities include crafts, reading or playing with interactive toys, including a giant ball pit.

The play area also has an expert trained in pediatric first aid in the play area in case any incident occurs.
