- Police will not charge soccer star, report says
- The Queensland player was the subject of a rape investigation
- However, the woman allegedly involved has withdrawn her complaint.
The Queensland-based NRL star accused of raping a woman will not be charged by police, according to a report.
Police will reportedly not press charges against the soccer star after a woman withdrew a complaint against him, the Courier Mail reports.
The star, who played for State of Origin, was the subject of a Queensland Police investigation last week in a development that shook the NRL Magic Round. He denies the accusation.
The player is currently contracted to one of the four NRL clubs based in Queensland.
Officers went to the star’s residence last week to question him about an alleged rape.

The same outlet claims the NRL player and the woman had been drinking heavily on the night of the alleged incident.
The woman later filed a formal complaint with the police and claimed that she had been digitally raped.
The player’s club was informed of the alleged incident and reported it to the NRL’s integrity unit, a standard measure when off-field matters occur involving a player contracted by their club.
The Queensland club is reported to be satisfied with the player’s version of events, insisting no sexual assault took place. The club has also been in dialogue with the police.
No charges have been brought against the player, who denies the accusation.
