A massive 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Vanuatu, prompting an urgent tsunami warning.
The earthquake occurred 29 kilometers west of Port Vila, on the island of Efate, at a depth of 28 kilometers at 12:47 local time, EMSC said.
A few minutes later an aftershock of magnitude 5.5 was recorded at a depth of 49 kilometers.
There is no tsunami threat for Australia, the Bureau of Meteorology has confirmed.
