A magnitude 3.9 earthquake occurred near Goulburn in southern New South Wales.
The earthquake occurred around 6:40 a.m. Thursday and had a depth of 1 kilometer.
According to Geoscience Australia, up to 270 people reported feeling the earthquake, but it is not expected to have caused any significant damage.
Residents of Crookwell and Bowral and Mittagong in the southern highlands, as well as Canberra, reported feeling the earthquake.

Chief scientist Adam Pascale of the Center for Seismological Research told Sunrise that people near the center of the earthquake may have heard a loud bang.
“It’s certainly strong enough to be felt, but probably won’t cause any damage in the local area,” he said.
Many southern New South Wales residents reported feeling the earthquake on social media.
‘Sense in Cowra. “The house was certainly moving beneath us, it seemed like we were falling off a wave,” one of them said.
“I thought someone was knocking on the windows,” said a man from Harden, southwest of Sydney.
“I felt like the house shook like something had hit it,” said another.
