The stunning actress and director, 46, showed her support for the handsome actor, 53, by joining him on the red carpet for the screening of his new comedy at the Crosby St. Hotel.

The synopsis for Coup! reads: ‘Secluded on a coastal estate, a privileged journalist (Billy Magnussen) and his socialite wife (Sarah Gadon) take in a mysterious con man as their private chef (Peter Sarsgaard).
“When a plague grips the island, the cunning cook incites his co-workers to revolt and take control of the mansion. His boss suspects the cook’s coup is part of a more sinister plan, and the mind games between master and servant escalate into open class warfare.”
The supporting cast includes Faran Tahir (Iron Man), Kristine Nielsen (The Gilded Age) and Fisher Stevens (Succession).
Writing-directing team Joseph Schuman and Austin Stark (The God Committee) said in a statement: “Coup! was a labor of love and it’s been an honor to work with Peter, Billy, Sarah and the rest of our incredible cast and crew.”
Meanwhile, Peter recently revealed that he didn’t know Maggie was an actress when he first fell in love with her.
“I met Maggie at a dinner party and I didn’t even know she was an actress. I didn’t know anything about her, but it was instant,” he said. People of their mutual attraction when they met in 2001.
“Then Secretary came out about six months later and I thought, ‘Wow. She’s cool. She’s not like any other actress in the world,'” she added.
Sarsgaard shared that a few years into their relationship, she was offered a role in the film Jarhead, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.

“I love working with her,” he told the publication.
“She’s a great director and I think that’s because she’s generally a great host and she knows what people need. Some people need to be told where to go, some people need to be left alone, and she’s amazing at sensing that.”

It’s been two years since Maggie’s last major film project (The Lost Daughter, which she directed) and three years since she acted in a major role in a film.
Despite her hiatus from acting and writing, the versatile star is reportedly set to direct a remake of Bride of Frankenstein, according to Collider.
The film will make its debut on Netflix and will feature Christian Bale and Maggie’s husband among the cast.
No release date has been confirmed for Bride of Frankenstein as of yet.
