After filming wrapped, Polly embarked on a weight loss initiative as she opened up about her discomfort at being trolled for her size on Instagram while modeling her new lithe figure a week ago.
She said: ‘I have received a lot of positive comments about my weight loss (and many other positives) since the show aired. But my goodness, I’m absolutely horrified after last night’s episode.
‘I got absolutely nothing from the general public saying I feel insecure about myself for weeks, and lo and behold, here you are making me feel insecure about how I looked.
‘Body shaming and making someone (no matter what they look like now) who is already going through stress feel insecure is one of the worst things you can do.
‘When you shame someone ONLINE and PUBLICLY, others are listening. A friend with an eating disorder, someone struggling to lose the baby weight, younger family members who have unrealistic body issues.
‘Body shaming in the name of advising them to be a certain way or making fun of someone’s size is a form of sarcasm and mentally damaging. I lost weight for my own reasons and none of you know why.
‘Body shaming leads to horrendous extremes that I hope never happens to me because of this, but I can assure you that it definitely hasn’t helped with how I feel about myself, even after losing so much weight.
‘It’s not okay to criticize someone for their body. It is absolutely one of the most disgusting things you can do to another person. And doing it online is even worse. You should all be very ashamed of yourselves.
‘Next time someone shames someone, remember that you are a HORRIBLE human being.
“So congratulations on making a young woman who has been vulnerable and herself on TV feel like shit again, very well done.”
