Caitlin’s new romance follows her disastrous marriage to Shannon, which ended amid allegations of emotional and verbal cruelty.
Viewers of the Channel Nine dating show were horrified to watch the pair’s relationship unravel on screen.
In one infamous scene, personal trainer Shannon told Caitlin that she wasn’t ‘good looking’ enough for him.
At the recent commitment party, relationship expert John Aiken asked Shannon, “Why did you feel the need to say all those things to Caitlin?”
“I really don’t have an answer for you… I just said it to hurt her. I’m really sorry I did this.” He replied.

“I’m really sorry, but I want to stay,” Shannon added, before confirming his decision to stay in the experiment.
An angry Caitlin said she was sick of his empty apologies and “rough” behavior.
She told him, “We can’t keep moving forward on an ‘I’ll own it’ basis but without doing better. It’s an apology followed by anger, aggression, and defensiveness – not an apology that gets carried away.”

At the final commitment ceremony, MAFS experts and spouses praised Caitlin for standing up for herself
It wasn’t what I wanted, and if I’m being honest, if I could do it again with someone else, I would. I deserve this chance but this man doesn’t deserve me. So I’m leaving.
While Shannon appeared shocked at Caitlin’s decision, John, the other experts, and the other MAFS couples applauded her.
