Football star Tom Hawkins gleefully accused Collingwood of hitting him with a ‘seam’ after appearing in a photo of Magpies star Josh Daicos enjoying one of Taylor Swift’s concerts at the MCG.

Daicos was seen hugging teammate Annalize Dalins as they watched the American superstar in the image on the club’s Instagram, which was captioned “Pastels go crazy for Tay Tay.”

However, a closer look revealed Hawkins holding two cans of Great Northern beer while sitting very close to them during the performance, prompting the Geelong great to comment: “Sew in the background” with two beer emojis.

Football fans didn’t miss Hawkins deep down and quickly drew attention to the 35-year-old Cats star.

“The great Tomahawk lurks,” wrote one.

Other comments included: “How many beers does Hawkins drink?”, “Not impressed with the Tom Hawkins photobomb” and “a double whammy with the Hawkins in the background, hilarious.”

Some fans also joked that Hawkins was “double parked,” a slang term meaning he was drinking two beers because he was a slow drinker.

Swift’s concerts left another Magpies star red-faced and left the AFL with a major headache as the start of the season approaches.

On Monday, 211cm Collingwood ruckman Mason Cox asked for help finding Taylor Swift fans who couldn’t see the performance because he sat in front of them.

Swift’s three concerts at the MCG left the AFL with plenty of work to do ahead of the first game of the season on the ground on March 14.

‘HELP IS NEEDED!!!! I want to find the people who sat directly behind me. [at the concert] to give them tickets to an AFL game. If you know them, let me know,” Cox wrote on Instagram.

The AFL is now carrying out major repair work as it attempts to prepare the MCG surface for the ground’s first clash of the season when Carlton takes on Richmond on March 14.

Swift performed three concerts at the 100,000-seat stadium last week, with footage showing the detrimental impact she has had on the turf.

However, MCG bosses are well equipped to tackle major resurfacing jobs – they have re-laid the turf just 13 days before the start of the 2023 season following back-to-back Ed Sheeran concerts.

“With just under four weeks until the first AFL match of the 2024 season, our turf team has been preparing for the stadium renovation for the past 18 months,” Melbourne Cricket Club boss Stuart Fox said.

“Although we need to replace two-thirds of the turf, the absence of scheduled events after the three Taylor Swift concerts gives us a more generous window for response time.”

Geelong great Cameron Ling caused a stir on Monday when he lashed out at Swift fans for buying tickets to multiple shows and bragging about it online.

‘I have an observation from Taylor Swift’s concerts, and they are the biggest new spankings in the world. “It’s those people who attended more than one Taylor Swift concert,” Ling said on her breakfast radio show Monday.

‘Now, I’m talking about the person who went to more than one concert and decided to flaunt it and put it everywhere. There was [so many] who were desperate to get a fine.
