Married At First Sight has always been known for its controversial experiments, but the latest challenge has left viewers outraged.
The show’s insiders have introduced a ‘twisted’ swinger task that will take place during Monday’s episode, where contestants will swap partners and share a bed together for an entire weekend.
Fans have taken to social media to express their disgust with the latest experiment.
One user wrote: ‘This is going too far. It’s one thing to marry a stranger, but swap partners and sleep together? That’s sick.
“The producers of this show deserve a fate worse than hell for putting Melinda through this,” wrote a second.

“Next episode is going to be disgustingly entertaining,” another laughed before writing that “the producers are evil this season.”
The show’s experts have defended the task, saying it is an opportunity for couples to experience different perspectives and deepen their relationships.
However, many fans remain unconvinced, with some even threatening to boycott the show.

“This has no other purpose than to get views, the premise of the show is lost,” wrote another.
“Great for speeding up your own show blitz,” another commented.
‘Producers love drama! You must want more viewers.

As revealed by Daily Mail Australia, Monday’s episode will see Channel Nine shakes up the experiment by encouraging the cast to swap partners and share the same bed for three days.
Couples will be encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and forced to live with another couple in the small apartment, causing some participants to refuse and leave the experiment.
Relationships “will be tested like never before when a swingers task is introduced.”
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, relationship expert John Aiken explained: “We’re constantly trying to throw couples challenges that they can experience in the real world, but in a very condensed short period of time – eight weeks.”

“Some of them bond as a result of these challenges, but other couples really start to drift apart, and so how do they navigate that?
“This series, we have a couple of key challenges that I think really test couples and really push them out of their comfort zone.
“That’s good because it’s year 10 and we need our participants to be constantly present and aware of what’s going on in the experiment – they can’t be complacent.”
MAFS executive producers Tara McWilliams and John Walsh said that while the challenge may have come as a surprise to the participants, the idea is nothing new.
“I don’t think it’s a big twist,” McWilliams explained. I won’t go into too much detail, but there are new elements to this year’s experiment.
“We’ve always done a partner exchange, it’s been a lunch or a dinner, where we have different partners to give us feedback,” Walsh explained.

It comes after a source told Daily Mail Australia that the partner swapping challenge was “hell for everyone involved”, with not all participants willing to take part. (Alyssa Barmonde pictured storming out of the hotel the week of the assignment)

Melinda imagined looking unhappy as she took a break on her balcony while filming the swingers’ task.

‘Not everyone was willing to participate. Layton refused to do so. They didn’t see the point and said, “There’s no way this would happen in the outside world.”
Layton was said to have been furious when told he would be paired with Bronte Schofield and refused to participate.

Meanwhile, Duncan James will be paired with Evelyn Ellis, while his ‘wife’ Alyssa Barmonde was paired with Cameron Woods.
“I don’t know if it was because there were too many couples at the end and they just wanted to prove who was genuine or not, or they just wanted to change things up,” another source added.
The participants had to live with another partner in Skye Suites, the Sydney apartment building where MAFS is filmed, for three days to “get feedback” on their relationships.
Married at First Sight continues Monday at 7:30pm on Channel Nine
