Madonna’s screenwriter Diablo Cody did not quit biopic despite report that she ‘left after having difficulties working with the singer’

Earlier this week, it was reported that screenwriter Diablo Cody had stopped working on the upcoming Madonna biopic after encountering challenges working with the singer, but that doesn’t really seem to be the case.

Weekly entertainment confirmed on Friday that 42-year-old filmmaker Cody did not actually leave the project, but instead turned in the final cut and moved on to a new project.

A source for the showbiz publication said Cody and the 62-year-old pop singer had turned in a finished, final draft of the script that they’d been working on for months in 2020.

It was reported on Thursday that Cody was retiring from work on the upcoming Madonna biopic after facing challenges working with the singer.

According to The sunthe director of Jennifer’s Body Madonna found it too difficult to work with, as the singer has been ‘very special’ about the way her story is told.

‘Madonna and Diablo have been working on the screenplay for weeks and have made good progress,’ a source told the site.
