Mad Max Furiosa FIRST LOOK: Prequel Filming Begins in Broken Hill

Production on the fifth Mad Max movie, Furiosa, is really underway.

On Wednesday, large canopies and trailers were seen in the Australian outback town of Broken Hill in New South Wales.

The prequel’s biggest stars, Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth, along with the film’s director, George Miller, arrived in Broken Hill last week.

Also seen at the interior location were some of the modified vehicles featured in the film, including what appeared to be a vintage car with a roof-mounted machine gun and a tow truck with a harpoon attached.

Anya, 26, was seen last week boarding a private jet at Sydney Airport for Broken Hill with the director.

The Queen’s Gambit actress is filming Furiosa with Hemsworth, Tom Burke and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, with the movie set for release in 2024.

She will play a young Imperator Furiosa, the war captain previously portrayed by Charlize Theron in the 2015 blockbuster Mad Max: Fury Road.
