Macy Gray was rushed to the hospital in a wheelchair after her Ozempic injection left her short of breath and unable to walk on the latest episode of MTV’s The Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets.
After previously revealing that the weight-loss drug had caused her to have a painful bout of constipation, the 56-year-old “I Try” singer suffered further complications that caused her so much concern that production rushed her to the emergency room.
At first, when she talked about her symptoms, Macy explained that she was having trouble breathing and found it difficult to move.
She said: “It’s so hard to catch my breath. It sucks because I’m here in Colombia and I really want to give it my all, but I feel awful and I just want this to go away.”
“This isn’t going well,” he continued. “I can’t even walk very far without getting out of breath.”

The 56-year-old singer was pushed into the emergency room in a wheelchair as she complained of difficulty breathing.
Macy was immediately checked by the show’s doctor and security staff.
“The last time I felt like this I had to go to the hospital. I’m just tired,” she said.
After evaluating Macy, the doctor told her, “You’re on some medication that can affect your pancreas. Your pancreas can’t fight it.”
After the doctor advised Macy to go to the hospital to get checked out, she was pushed into the emergency room in a wheelchair.
Meanwhile, in the villa, Chet Hanks revealed to the rest of the celebrities about Macy’s trip to the hospital.
“He went to the hospital,” she said. “He hasn’t been eating.”
“I know why,” said X Factor alum Ally Brooke. “It’s the injection. That’s what happens, that’s literally what happened to my friends.”
Speaking in her confessional, Ally continued: “I’m familiar with the Ozempic trend and I’ve definitely heard about the side effects Macy’s been having… so I feel for her.”
Sharing her symptoms, Macy said, “I can’t even walk very far without getting out of breath.”

Macy divulged her use of Ozempic on last week’s episode of The Surreal Life, where she also shared her struggles with side effects.
Speaking to co-stars Kim Zolciak and Johnny Weir about her uncomfortable experience, she said: “Oh my God, my stomach hurts. I was so constipated.
“I took Ozempic. I can’t go to the bathroom and I was up all night.”
Former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim, 46, joked: “Ozempic does that.”
“I was in pain last night,” Macy shared, prompting Kim to warn her, “You have to be careful, you know?”
Macy added: “I’m going on tour after this, so I was trying to lose weight really quickly.”
Speaking in her confessional, Macy explained that she sought out Ozempic to lose some weight before her cross-country tour.
She said: ‘I’m quietly a bit of a vain person. I’ve gained a lot of weight in the last two years, and this is just the time when everyone starts talking about this Ozempic.
‘So I thought, well, I’m not taking it off the right way, let me see if I can get one of these Ozempic ones.
“I was actually trying to lose some weight before the show because I didn’t want to look super fat on TV, but here we are.”

Ozempic contains the active ingredient semaglutide and although it is classified as a diabetes medication, some people have used it for weight loss.
The drug works by mimicking a hormone the body uses to signal when the stomach is full and we should stop eating, which helps suppress appetite and slow down overall digestion.
However, this can also trigger what is medically known as the gastrocolic reflex.
This basically means that the stomach sends a signal to the brain indicating that because a large amount of food has been consumed, space needs to be made later.
As a result, the colon and rectum are ordered to empty their contents.
But if the digestive process has not been fully completed, which is more likely when the signal is artificial in the case of drugs such as semaglutide, this can lead to explosive diarrhea.
