A car rolled on its roof in a busy tunnel, causing chaos for commuters with traffic backed up for 16 kilometres.

The vehicle overturned after colliding with another car in the M5 tunnel near Bardwell Valley, in Sydney’s south, at 6.40am on Tuesday.

Traffic has been delayed by 16 kilometers and travelers have been warned of long delays.

Two of the three eastbound lanes remain closed.

Drivers are recommended to reduce speed to 40 kilometers per hour.
