“It’s very exciting that M & M’S Pretzel is produced locally and is bringing the treat to Australia for the first time,” said a Mars Wrigley spokesperson.

Most people don’t know, but some of Australia’s best-loved chocolate brands, such as Maltesers, Milky Way, Mars and Pods, are actually made here by Aussies.

“Mars Wrigley Australia is investing in new equipment to make these new M & Ms in Victoria regional, and Ballarat is the only Mars Wrigley factory in the world that has the ability to manufacture pods – who would have thought it.”

While the United States has been enjoying the pretzel flavor since 2010, this is the first time Australians can get their hands on the delectable package

M & M’s have been made in Ballarat since 1986, with chocolate exported here to more than 17 countries.

Pods were invented there in 2004 and since then 1 billion pods have been made annually – that’s about 14 billion in total.

In 2018, the factory made enough Maltesers to fill eight Olympic swimming pools.

They will be available in major country supermarkets starting next week, first in Coles on July 13 and then in Woolworths from July 28.
