Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has hailed Tottenham after the two clubs opened talks over a possible transfer.

Sportsmail reported last week that Spurs have initiated negotiations with the Ligue 1 club over a potential club record deal for the 22-year-old but the clubs remain apart on valuation.  

Ndombele, valued at £70million by Lyon, has now shown his admiration for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

‘Yes, it’s true that Tottenham is a great team, it’s a big club,’ he told French outlet Telefoot.

‘They finished fourth in their league, they’re finalist in the Champions League.

‘It’s still a big club like any other. Which player would not be interested in a big club?’

Ndombele scored three goals and contributed eight assists in 49 appearances last campaign. 

Pochettino wants to rebuild his midfield this summer and has identified Ndombele along with Fulham ‘s Ryan Sessgnon and Jack Clarke of Leeds United as some of his main targets.
