Van Zant, 63, took to Facebook before the weekend to announce that her youngest daughter, Taylor, had been diagnosed with a brain mass.

The shocking news came just days after the band was forced to cancel several shows, citing a “family emergency.”

“First of all, I want to thank you all for praying for my family,” Van Zant said in the video. ‘I didn’t announce my daughter’s name because she is very private. In saying that, I think many of you know that she is my youngest daughter, Taylor.”

Van Zant explained that Taylor had suddenly started experiencing numbness on the right side of her body.

The family then rushed her to the emergency room, where doctors discovered a mass on her brain, which had also caused internal bleeding.

“A couple of days ago, Taylor started feeling numbness on her right side,” he said. ‘He went to the emergency room, they did a CT scan and they found the only way to tell that it was a mass on his brain and that part of it was bleeding. That was causing the numbing part.

While doctors do not believe the mass is cancerous, Van Zant said more tests are being done and they are not out of the woods yet.

“In saying that, we’ve had it with a great neurology team and a group of doctors, and they don’t believe it’s (cancer),” he continued.
