An ACT Police patrol found a woman naked and screaming on Fairweather Circuit (pictured) on Monday night and she alleged she had been held captive and assaulted for several days.

A woman was found naked and screaming on a suburban street after allegedly being trapped and raped by a man in a nearby home.

An ACT Police patrol spotted the woman on Fairweather Circuit in Lyneham, in Canberra’s northern hinterland, about 7pm on Monday.

Officers immediately took her to her car, where she told them she had been confined to a nearby home for several days.

During that time, she alleged that the man repeatedly assaulted and sexually assaulted her, causing her numerous injuries.

A 44-year-old Lyneham man was arrested shortly afterwards and charged with forcible confinement, rape, assault and failure to appear.

Police said investigations were ongoing and it was anticipated that further charges would be laid against the man.

He was due to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
