A man was rushed to hospital after being shot in a car while waiting at a traffic light in Melbourne.
Shots were fired at the car near the corner of Commercial Dr and South Gippsland Hwy in Lynbrook, in the city’s south-east, about 8.30pm on Wednesday night.
It is not yet clear if the man was driving the vehicle or was a passenger.
A family member took the injured man to the hospital, where he remains stable.
Detectives are investigating whether an Audi found running on Boundary Road, Narre Warren almost an hour later, is linked to the shooting.
The car fire is considered suspicious.
Armed Crime Squad detectives have launched an investigation into the car fire.
“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain to be determined at this time,” a police statement read.
No arrests have been made yet.
Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
