Premier League new boys Luton Town have confirmed the signing of former Chelsea and Everton midfielder Ross Barkley.
The 29-year-old had been a free agent after being released earlier this summer following a disappointing spell with French club Nice.
The Hatters have picked up the England international for free ahead of their Premier League opener in Brighton on Saturday.
Barkley, who spent eight years at Everton and four at Chelsea, has capped 33 times for England and has more than 200 Premier League appearances to his name.
‘Why Luton? Moving from the Conference to the Premier League is a great story and for me personally to be back in the Premier League is a great motivation,” Barkley said.

‘I’m still relatively young and in recent years I haven’t played as much as I would have liked.
“But I’ve saved a lot of energy and I’ve taken care of myself, so it’s great to be here now, I have a lot to show, but I’m ready and I’m feeling motivated.”
