- Luke Littler defeated Jim Williams and Luke Woodhouse for the first time in Players Championship
- The 17-year-old threw nine darts to beat Michele Turetta in the round of 16
- Little came close to repeating the feat on the way to beating Cameron Menzies
Luke Littler threw nine darts on his PDC ProTour debut at the Players Championship in Wigan.
The 17-year-old sensation had beaten Jim Williams and Luke Woodhouse in the first two rounds to set up a meeting with Michele Turetta.
Little built a 5-1 lead against the first Italian Tour Card holder after having broken his opponent in the third.
He then managed to finish off Turetta, whose girlfriend is darts star Fallon Sherrock, in brilliant style as he shot a final 141 to advance to the next round.
It was Littler’s second nine-darter of the year, as he also achieved the feat against Nathan Aspinall in the first round of the Bahrain Darts Masters, which he won last month.

Littler came close to getting another nine darts in the next round against Cameron Menzies, but missed D12.
But he continued his dream start to his first Players Championship by beating the Scot 6-2 at an average of 108.99 to book a place in the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, Gerwyn Price, who withdrew from Players Championship 1 on Monday, criticized the “pathetic” playing conditions at Wigan.
He wrote on Instagram: ‘Absolutely pathetic conditions.
“We travel to Wigan to play a professional match and we have to play in less than amateur conditions.
“I’ve never given up on a game, well that’s me for tomorrow too.”
“Gutted because my game was really good today and I’m really confident in these events.”
