Luke Littler has revealed how a trip to WrestleMania seven years ago inspired his music.
The 17-year-old has become a household name thanks to his heroics at the World Darts Championship earlier this year, which was followed by a string of high-profile successes.
Since becoming a hit with fans, many will have become familiar with the teen sensation’s famous farewell song: Pitbull’s ‘Greenlight’.
Many had wondered where the inspiration for Littler’s unique song choice came from and now the 17-year-old has given the answers.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, Littler posted a video of himself at a WrestleMania event seven years ago before explaining his reasoning.
Luke Littler took to social media to reveal WWE’s inspiration for his iconic walk-on music.
Littler shared a video of himself from a WrestleMania event seven years ago where Pitbull’s ‘Greenlight’, now his backing music, can be heard blaring from the stadium speakers.
The caption read: ‘7 years ago where my @OfficialPDC darts walk on music comes from @WWE #Wrestlemania33 @pitbull Oh e Oh e Oh e Oh e Oh Oh Oh.’
In the video, a young Littler can be seen sitting and singing the song at the 64,000-seat Camping World Stadium in Florida.
The song evidently resonates with the teen star and Littler went on to explain how he had been “singing like crazy” to the music in the stadium.
According SunHe said: ‘My dad and I went to Wrestlemania 33, seven years ago, it was in Florida, Orlando.
‘It was the first time I was there. It was a good song, she sang it like she was ten years old.
“I thought if I made it (I was playing a bit of football at the time) then that would be my path.”
In January, WWE extended an invitation to Littler to attend WWE Live on April 19 in London, stating that they might even play the song during the event for him.
The organization wrote: ‘We heard that #WrestleMania 33 inspired your entrance music at @BBCR1, so you’re officially invited to @TheO2 on April 19 when WWE comes to London. We could even give “Greenlight” to @Pitbull!’
Pitbull performed alongside co-artists Flo Rida, Lunchmoney Lewis and Stephen Marley at the event in 2017.
The wrestling organization reached out to the teenage darts star and praised him for his sensational run to the PDC World Darts Championship final in January.
Littler recently revealed that a rowdy spectator hurt his arm during one of his walks.
Last month, Littler revealed that a rowdy spectator hurt his arm during one of his walks before their Premier League win in Belfast.
However, his exciting showdown against Michael Van Gerwen was somewhat marred before even reaching the oche, after he was grabbed and had his arm pulled.
The incident, which was not fully caught on Sky Sports cameras, appeared to have been sparked when a punter grabbed Littler while his music was playing.
Then security guards intervened, flanking the players as they made their way to the stage. It is not known if the anonymous individual was expelled from the scene.
