Passengers were left “traumatised” when a man died on a flight yesterday after falling ill and coughing up “litres of blood” before collapsing.

The 63-year-old traveler, who has not been named, is said to have boarded the Lufthansa flight from Bangkok to Munich visibly ill before his condition rapidly worsened.

“It was an absolute horror, everyone was screaming,” his traveling companion Karin Missfelder, a Swiss nursing specialist, told a Swiss-German media outlet. click.

He explained that the man had been in “cold sweats” and was “breathing too fast” before passengers rushed to help him, offering him tea and taking his pulse.

But when the plane took off, it went quickly downhill. The man is said to have been spitting into a bag when a “jet of blood” came from his mouth and nose, splashing the walls of the Airbus A380 plane.

Sharing vivid memories, passengers told the outlet how flight attendants rushed to revive the man after the tragic eruption.

Missfelder said staff kept up their attempts for about half an hour, but it was clear the man could not be saved.

He said he blamed himself for not speaking before takeoff when he realized the man was sick.

The man was taken to the plane’s galley when the captain announced the death.

The flight was then forced to turn around and return to Bangkok airport, where passengers complained they were left to wait without guidance for two hours.

Travelers on board said the wife of the man who had died had to go through customs alone while they were rebooked on another flight via Hong Kong.

“She was left alone and apathetic and had to endure all the formalities,” Mr. Martin Missfelder explained to Blick.

He said it was “unacceptable” that Lufthansa’s “30 traumatized passengers” had to wait without direction and said he hoped the group and the deceased’s wife would apologize.

Passengers also claim they were offered a 10 franc (£9.06) voucher. Local reports did not make clear what the bonus was intended for.

MailOnline has contacted Lufthansa for comment.
