But a scan revealed that one of the children was left with brain damage, although the long-term impact has yet to be determined.
The father explained: “He can deviate from his peers. At the moment, if you look at him, he’s just like a normal kid, so it’s something we’ll have to keep monitoring over the years as the years go on.”
The couple have been very open with their children about what happened to them when they were just days old.
“We tried to tell them that Lucy has tried to hurt you. But they don’t understand. They make a joke, we will kick her, we will bite her, we will pull her hair, mommy. They don’t understand yet.
“We don’t want them to find out from anyone else in the future if we’re not around. Obviously, we’ll talk to them again when they’re a little older when they can understand. But it’s important that they know this happened to them and not hear about it from a third party or something like that.”
