A UK cardholder won the £111 million jackpot on Friday, the National Lottery said.

The huge win catapults the lucky player above Harry Potter actress Emma Watson (£58 million), Mad Max star Tom Hardy (£30 million) and every member of One Direction.

Andy Carter of Camelot, senior advisor to winners at the National Lottery, said: ‘What great news, a UK winner has won the incredible jackpot of £111M EuroMillions in tonight’s special Super Jackpot drawing.

“This is the UK’s fourth jackpot this year. Players are urged to check their tickets and give us a call if they think they are tonight’s lucky jackpot winner.

Every EuroMillions ticket also automatically gains entry to the UK Millionaire Maker, guaranteeing that at least one lucky player will win £1 million in every draw.

Also tonight British gamblers have a chance to win £500,000 in tonight’s Thunderball.

While tonight’s EuroMillions win is huge, it’s not the biggest in lottery history.

That honor went to a Swiss player, who brought in no less than 180 million pounds in February this year.

In April, a British ticket holder won a EuroMillions jackpot of £122 million – the fifth biggest win ever by the National Lottery.
