What could you do with 20p? You might think that’s not much in the modern British economy. You couldn’t even buy a Freddo.

Well, one fan managed to exchange his 20p for almost £1,200 after placing a gigantic Bet Builder in this week’s Champions League action.

The lucky bettor placed a 16-match bet between Aston Villa’s trip to RB Leipzig and Atalanta’s clash with Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

Against all odds, every element of their business came into play and they were celebrating a £1,173.39 payout from Paddy Power.

Both Villa and Madrid held on to take 3-2 victories and that was especially helpful for the English team, who now sit fifth in the league stage standings.

Ross Barkley secured the winning goal for Villa in the 85th minute and, thanks to Paddy Power’s Super Sub offer, the fan was able to count it in for Youri Tielemans’ shot on goal after the Englishman replaced him.

Jhon Durán also replaced Ollie Watkins and scored a goal in the second half as part of the clearance.

The Super Sub rule maintains a bet even if a player’s selection is removed; after all, they can still come in and score a winner.

Both teams scored and over 2.5 goals were easy bankers that night and John McGinn’s early goal marked a key scoring or assist market.

The two goalkeepers also did their part, as Emiliano Martínez made the necessary 3+ saves and his counterpart Peter Gulasci made the 4+.

However, the real brilliance came via the Super Sub, as Jhon Duran scored off the bench to complete a stretch of Ollie Watkins 2+ Shots on Target, along with Barkley’s heroics.

Things were a little simpler in Italy, when Kylian Mbappé, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham all scored goals in Bergamo, connecting their shots on goal for the bettor.

Ademola Lookman was a pest for the Real Madrid defense all night, and his goal came after one of three shots on goal to take home the most expensive leg of the bet.
