The LSU women’s basketball team sparked outrage before its game against Iowa on Monday night after leaving the court before the US national anthem played.
The LSU Tigers were defeated 94-87 by the Iowa Hawkeyes in Albany, where the latter’s star player, Caitlin Clark, produced a surprising 41-point haul.
However, before the game began, images on social media appear to show LSU players skipping the national anthem while their Iowa counterparts stood hand in hand to listen to it.
Fans were left furious at Kim Mulkey’s team for not playing the Star-Spangled Banner, with one writing on X: ‘LSU is a complete embarrassment.’ His entire team should be expelled.”
