Love Island’s Samie Elishi details hospital run, says her thyroid surgery to remove a lump was postponed due to her illness

Love Island’s Samie Elishi has revealed that she was recently rushed to the hospital and forced to postpone her upcoming thyroid surgery due to illness.

The 23-year-old reality star shared a tearful video in April while talking about a recent cancer scare when she found a lump on her neck.

Updating fans on her surgery to remove the lump, Samie explained on her YouTube channel that she fell ill after her recent cruise trip.

Detailing the hospital scare, he said: “I didn’t realize how serious tonsillitis could be, but I was on an IV drip on the cruise ship to try to get food and water because I couldn’t eat or drink.”

“So as soon as I landed, I was meant to go to the Beyoncé concert with PrettyLittleThing, which I am absolutely gutted, I couldn’t make it, but I had to land and go straight to the hospital.”

Samie continued, “My mum and I went straight to the hospital and got checked out because the antibiotics they gave me on the cruise were wearing off so I had to be admitted to the hospital here.”

“So I was in there most of the night and I basically didn’t know this, but you can’t have surgery if you have an infection.”

Samie went on to say that she was forced to postpone her thyroid surgery due to her illness, but it is scheduled to take place in a matter of weeks.

“My surgery was meant to be a couple of days after the cruise, so it was postponed. It will now be at the end of this month, so it’s pretty early now,’ she said.

‘I have received such amazing messages that also say how helpful it has been for me to share my journey. People found lumps in their throats and went to get them checked out.

“People have been sending me pictures of the scar that has healed because that’s what worried me, but I’m not anymore, I just want it to be over with.” So yes, the surgery is still going on, it’s just been postponed.

Samie recently told her followers that fans saw a lump on her neck that doctors revealed to be “grade three,” meaning they can’t tell if it’s cancerous or not.

She said: “It’s a 5cm lump on my thyroid” before revealing that she was awaiting surgery where doctors will be able to take a biopsy.

She also admitted that she had not released a lengthy statement about her recent breakup with boyfriend Tom Clare due to her ongoing health issues.

She told the camera: ‘It’s intense, Tom and I are done. It has ended on good terms. No one has ever done anything wrong to each other, there’s still lots and lots of love there.’

‘It just wasn’t working on the outside and we both agreed on most things.

‘No bad blood there, me and Tom. I would never say a bad word about him and he wouldn’t say a bad word about me either.

She added: ‘We just weren’t working on the outside. I feel like when you leave the villa you have so much pressure and so many other things to worry about that play a huge factor in a relationship.

“I thought Tom and I were going to live happily ever after, but life happens”

She then tearfully opened up about her upcoming surgery, saying, “Basically what they do is cut your throat… I shouldn’t be upset because I’m so thankful people have messaged me and now I’ve noticed.” I am very grateful’.

Before adding: ‘But obviously it’s still very scary. I’m a girl, I’m realizing how common it is now. I even saw Demi Jones go through it.
