Lucie Donlan was recently forced to contact police after receiving daily death threats from online trolls which she revealed on Sunday.

It’s been two years since Lucie, 23, appeared on the ITV2 dating show, but the star admitted that online abuse is now worse than it was in 2019.

Speak with The sunshe said, “It really scared me. When I came off the show, I was so busy that I never really had time to look on my phone. But this year it felt much harder to escape the commentary.’

Lucie revealed that the daily death threats came from the same accounts every day and the comments made her nervous enough to contact the police.

Of the ordeal, she said, “I’m lucky, I have great people around me. As well as my family and friend, Maura [Higgins] is great to talk to because she is so strong.’

The star has been dating Winter Love Island star Luke Mabbott, 25, for a year after he slipped into his DMs when he left the show single.

Lucie revealed in the candid interview that she thinks Luke is husband material and everything she was looking for in a man.

It comes after Lucie previously told MailOnline that she fell for Luke as soon as she saw him in Love Island’s winter season.

She said, “I liked him the first time I saw him walk into the villa. I saw him and thought ‘wow, he’s perfectly my type.

“I watched him the whole time he was on the show and I thought he was just perfect. He was such a sweet gentleman too.

“When I saw he was single, I messaged him. I saw that he was single and I just thought ‘I have to take my chance’ – you have to go for what you want.

“The day we first met, we just knew it had to be that way, which is really crazy when you’re meeting someone for the first time.

“He brings out the best in me because I haven’t stopped smiling since we met.”

But among the comments was one from her partner, who simply wrote, “To marry you,” alongside an engagement ring and a blue heart emoji.

The model has been in love with Redcar-born Luke since they made their romance public last summer.

The Justin Bieber lookalike was a finalist in season six of the ITV dating show in January 2020, while the sportswoman appeared in season five of the show in 2019.
