Love Island will reportedly return to Mallorca for the series of this year’s hit show.

TV bosses are even thought to have provided an extra cast to fly out and quarantine in May like the main set of singletons as a Covid precaution, reports The sun

A source told the publication: ‘Every precaution has been taken to ensure that it runs smoothly. In addition to the additional cast, they included Covid safety precautions and more checks on participants’ mental health.

Everyone is very excited. Restrictions are relaxed, Euro football has begun and Love Island is back in Mallorca. What else do you want? ‘

However, a Love Island representative told MailOnline, “We are currently unable to confirm locations for the upcoming Love Island series.”

Love Island 2020’s summer series was canceled after production found it “ logistically impossible ” to host the show as the pandemic raged.

Candidates for the next series have reportedly been told that they must be off for 10 weeks abroad and undergo a psychological and physical assessment.

Sexual health screening and an unannounced drug test will also be required, and the cast will have to indicate whether they are living with someone who is clinically vulnerable, the publication said.

Bosses will also ask contestants about their mental health history and for permission to contact their primary care physician and in another move to help them on the show.

It was previously reported that Jersey will be insured for shooting this summer if production cannot take place at the show’s usual location, Mallorca.

A source had told The mirror Earlier in March, bosses hoped that Jersey will be blessed with warm weather this summer as Love Island filming takes place on the picturesque island.

They said, “The Channel Islands get a lot of sun, so it makes sense to keep Love Island there if we can’t get back to Spain.”

A Love Island representative declined to comment when approached by MailOnline at the time.

And it comes despite reports last month saying Love Island bosses had considered Devon and Cornwall as alternative filming locations.

A source said The sun when various locations were examined to see whether travel restrictions were still in force in the summer.

They said, ‘Cornwall has been chosen, as well as Torquay, the Isles of Scilly and even Barry Island, where Gavin and Stacey were filmed.

ITV bosses are also worried about fan backlash against the show if contestants are allowed to leave for work reasons, but the rest of the country is still at home.

And according to host Laura Whitmore, the popular reality show has been inundated with applicants, “ the most they’ve ever had, ” as she praised the casting team as “ brilliant, ” saying they were looking for “ amazing personalities ” similar to Maura Higgins. .

In February, it was reported that bosses are on the hunt for ‘brains and brawn’ as they would like to include a key worker in the lineup due to the recognition.

NHS physician Alex George, 29, and pharmacist Anna Vakili, 30, were both hits with viewers after appearing on the dating show’s fourth series in 2018.

Dr. Alex has worked tirelessly on the front lines during the pandemic and was recently hired by Boris Johnson as a youth mental health ambassador after speaking out after his brother’s death last year.

The new series is rumored to be the ‘biggest in history’ as excited ITV bosses prepare for its highly anticipated comeback later this year.
