Love Is Blind contestant Brittany Mills has opened up about her split from ex-fiancée Kenneth Gorham – revealing that, despite not making it to the altar, the two have remained friends.
The 24-year-old account development manager regrettably decided it was time to end her engagement with Kenneth, 26, after admitting that their chemistry inside the pods failed to translate in the outside world.
Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com, Brittany lifted the lid on what really happened behind the scenes on the Netflix show, and revealed their post honeymoon break-up was so seamlessly they nailed it on camera in the first take.
‘I believe that when we came back home, we just noticed a change within one another,’ she told DailyMail.com of their split. ‘There was a little bit of a space between us.
Love Is Blind’s Brittany Mills opened up about her time on the show in an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com
Brittany fell in love with school principal Kenneth Gorham in the pods with the pair going on to get engaged
‘I think that as that space grew and grew quickly, we drifted.
‘Despite that, it still taught us so much and it was a blessing. We were still able to treat it with respect and honor how each other was feeling.’
Brittany initiated the breakdown of her engagement from school principal Kenneth during a heart-to-heart in which she discussed their lack of intimacy.
‘We barely kiss, and we haven’t made out, and for some reason that seems really awkward to me,’ she said.
‘I think it upsets me so much because I want so badly to want to experience that crave that I had with you in the pods, but it’s just scaring me that I’m not feeling that consistently.’
Brittany and Kenneth didn’t have to relive the break up over and over again during the filming process, as she confirmed the cameras managed to capture it seamlessly.
‘We didn’t have to have the conversation multiple times to get everything worked out,’ she continued.
‘He offered me a comfortable space with open arms to talk about the ways in which I was feeling and the way he was as well.
The couple jetted to the Dominican Republic for their honeymoon, but it wasn’t long before cracks began to appear
Brittany and Kenneth left the experiment in episode eight shortly after moving in together
‘We were able to have that mature conversation and know where our hearts stood and know where our minds stood.’
Viewers were quick to brand their honeymoon experience ‘awkward’ owing to the long pregnant pauses during their conversations.
But Brittany maintained that their vacation was anything but – and instead insisted that the moments of silence were a good thing.
‘Coming out of the pods was an experience and the reveal, and then the Dominican Republic,’ she said. ‘You’re going through so much in such a beautiful way that there are moments when you’re like, okay, “I need to process everything.”
‘Truthfully, it was very much that. It was processing. It was being able to reflect.’
Brittany stressed that she believes taking space from a partner while in their company is ‘necessary’ – and that’s what happened with Kenneth.
‘Being able to be with your partner and being able to reflect – not necessarily sharing words with one another but sharing a space and offering a space with your partner and being able to do so together but in silence.’
During their breakup, Brittany revealed that their lack of physical touch bothered her.
Reflecting on her experience on the show, Brittany said it felt ‘natural and comfortable’
Former Love Is Blind star Nick Thompson revealed he is on the brink of homelessness after struggling to find a job in the wake of his 2021 appearance in the Netflix reality show
Reflecting on their relationship, she said: ‘It was absolutely beautiful, I feel very strongly about that.’
Speaking about her experience of falling in love in the pods, Brittany admitted: ‘What surprised me the most is that it felt natural.
‘That it didn’t feel like a stereotypical reality TV show. It felt natural and comfortable. That was surprising.
‘Going in, you think you better prepare, but when you get there… it was a wonderful process. It was handled in near perfection. I think that’s what was surprising. To come out on the other side and get engaged, I was like – wait, it works!’
Her praise comes months after former Love Is Blind contestant Nick Thompson lambasted the producers, claiming they had ‘exploited’ him and treated him ‘like a prisoner’ while filming.
