The Times has decided to stop publishing “Dilbert”. Cartoonist Scott Adams made racist remarks in a YouTube live stream on Feb. 22, offensive comments that The Times rejects. Furthermore, The Times ran a rerun of the strip four times in the last nine months when the new daily strip failed to meet our standards. In most editions, it will be discontinued as of Monday. But because Sunday strips are printed in advance, “Dilbert” is the last to appear in the March 12 paper. A replacement title will premiere soon. The Comics pages should be a place where our readers can engage with social issues, reflect on the human condition, and enjoy a few laughs. We intend to keep that tradition alive in a way that welcomes all readers.
