Lorde shares a text from Taylor Swift as she celebrates the sixth anniversary of her sophomore album Melodrama — and teases new music coming soon
Lorde has shared the magical text message she received from Taylor Swift when her second album Melodrama was released six years ago.
As the Royals singer celebrated the sixth anniversary of Melodrama’s release, she posted a number of photos from its creation — including her exchange with Taylor.
“You’ll always be pictured in my mind in a rowboat with Annie Lennox floating down a river of cool, cerebral, ethereal dreams, but all around you a don’t-f–k-with-me vibe,” the Bejeweled sent singer her a message.
“And I don’t think first week record sales define a throwback,” the Karma singer added.
“I love this so much,” 26-year-old Lorde, who performed in Sydney earlier this year, replied to 33-year-old Taylor.

While Melodrama debuted at number one on Billboard and sold 109,000 copies in its first week, down from the 129,000 her first album, Pure Heroine, sold.
And this fact apparently bothered the Perfect Places hitmaker.
Lorde also shared a carousel of other images documenting her writing process for Melodrama.
In a photo, the New Zealand native shared a photo of herself having breakfast when she was a teenager and putting together the album.
She lived long term at the Park Hyatt hotel in New York City and explained that at the time she “really had no idea it was an extremely expensive hotel and so spent most of my advance on hotel bills.”
In another photo, she was sitting in a bathtub with her laptop. ‘Many of these writing sessions for dramatic texts. I was so anxious all the time, my heart was like a little bird’s,” she captioned the photo.
