It’s perfect for a tank vacation.

An old Samaritan ambulance tank has been converted into a lakeside Airbnb, perfect for those looking for a quirky glamping experience.

This unusual residence forms part of the RAF Wainfleet coastal holiday site in Lincolnshire, just a few miles from Skegness, and has been delighting guests.

At first glance, the vehicle looks like a functional tank, with a military green paint job and a (non-working) cannon.

A closer inspection reveals a cozy accommodation for two with military-style décor and some useful modern amenities.

The benches inside transform into a double bed, plus there’s Wi-Fi and a smart TV, along with equipment to prepare meals worthy of an army officer.

The tank door contains a refrigerator and wine rack and the interior houses cupboards, a double stovetop, a kettle and a toaster.

An awning at the rear creates some extra space and a folding table and four chairs allow for al fresco dining.

If the sun is shining, guests may like to fire up the grill.

There is no private bathroom, but there is a shower and toilet block a few steps away, as stated in the advert.

“We stayed in the tank and loved it. We will be back soon.”

Lucie, from Nottingham, said: “It was a great stay at the tank! My five-year-old son and I stayed there for two nights and had a great time. The surroundings are beautiful – bring your swimming gear as there is an open water pool you can swim in right outside the accommodation. The area was pleasantly secluded. There is also a tap right outside so don’t walk to the toilet block with a large water carrier like I did.”

Tourist Charlton commented: ‘Great stay, quiet and peaceful; excellent value for money.’

Other glamping options on site include a converted airplane, a military ambulance, a fire truck and a helicopter.

The Samaritan Tank has a two-night minimum stay policy and costs £70 per night. Pets are allowed for a fee of £20 per pet. Visit airbnb.co.uk.
