The police are hunting a white-haired man who according to them has unfairly attacked a four-year-old girl in a public toilet block.

The young girl wandered away from her parents on 4 January in Tickle Park in Coolum on the Sunshine Coast.

She entered the unisex toilet block near the surf club at a time between 16.30 and 17.30 and the man followed her inside and attacked her indecently.

She then went back to her where her family and friends were sitting and told her parents what was happening.

The police said the man had white or light-colored hair and wore shorts and a t-shirt.

It appealed to everyone who saw the man or something suspicious, or had dashcam images of those who were driving past the park at that time, to contact the police.

A & # 39; heartbreaking & # 39; resident said that many residents & # 39; shocked and felt helpless & # 39; after the attack in their community.

She made a row of paper cranes and hung them just inside the canopy of the toilet building with messages of hope that had been written next to them.

Sunshine Coast District Chief Inspector Darryl Johnson said last week that the police considered the violation as serious.

"It's really a big concern for us, we have not seen this kind of offense in our community lately," he said.

& # 39; It is in the initial phase of the investigation, but it is a serious offense. It is one that we as a police, we as a community, family, as mothers and fathers, want to see that it is solved. & # 39;

Child-Protection Unit Officer-in-Charge Justin Ward said that the girl had been medically examined but had not been hospitalized.

Mr. Ward said the police would release information about the incident as part of their research strategies & # 39;

I hope and confident that we will solve this and identify the responsible person, & # 39; he said.

Chief Inspector Johnson also said that public toilets should not be seen as a hotspot for insult, but it is an area where parents must remain vigilant.
