The Milwaukee Bucks have announced the death of longtime assistant coach and NBA player Joe Wolf at the age of 59.
Wolf was an assistant coach for the Bucks’ G-League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd, since last year. The team did not announce the cause of death.
Wolf played for seven NBA teams and spent two seasons with the Charlotte Hornets and Denver Nuggets.
“Joe touched many live and was a highly respected, adored and dedicated coach and player throughout the NBA,” a statement from the Bucks read. “His renowned talent was instrumental to the Bucks and Herd during eight years in the organization, including as a player and coach.”
Wolf had the opportunity to be a head coach three times, all of them at the development league level.
The teams that are now the Salt Lake City Stars and Texas Legends were coached by Wolf, as was the Greensboro Swarm, the Hornets’ current G-League affiliate.
