A stylish new superyacht has been launched in Turkey with a beach club and six bedrooms for a family to ‘live at sea’.

The 180 ft Al Waab II is the longest steel and aluminum yacht under 500 gross tons ever built, according to builders Alia Yachts.

Vessels above 500 GT are subject to additional regulations and many owners and designers want to have as long a yacht as possible while remaining under the limit.

The yacht, which can accommodate 12 people, benefits from the minimalist design that makes the most of the outside space and emphasizes the hull, keeping the gross tonnage low and maximizing size.

It’s also decked out with floor-to-ceiling windows, a split-level master bedroom on the upper deck, and an expansive beach club with direct access to the water.

Al Waab II, designed by Vripack, is also the first superyacht to be launched from Alia Yachts’ 2000-ton boat lift in Antalya, Turkey.

The company’s president, Gokhan Celik, said: Forbes: ‘We are very proud of Al Waab II. We believe this is the longest steel and aluminum yacht under 500 GT in the world, setting a new standard in external and internal volumes offered to a customer in this category.

‘Yachts are getting longer and wider, but owners still want to stay below 500 Gross Ton. We see an increasing interest in these types of yachts and that is why it is an important milestone for Alia to be one of the first to come up with such an impressive project.”

The sleek design was specifically requested by the future owner of the yacht who wants a ‘floating family home’, according to Bart Bouwhuis, co-creative director at Vripack.

He said: ‘For many owners, the concept of enjoying a ‘home by the sea’ is what drives their passion for sailing.

‘The owner of Al Waab II had the explicit wish to use his boat as a family apartment. That wish became the starting point for the entire design. The result is the essence of living on the water.’
