Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer returned to Channel 4 on Wednesday night for a new series of the property hunting show.
Phil’s couple Toby and Simone, both 26, were looking to buy their first home, with a deposit of £45,000 and a maximum budget of £450,000 due to using the government’s Lifetime ISA.
After renting in Finchley for several years, the couple were looking to continue the “hustle” of their city life, with good links to the city center and a nearby high street.
Phil finally managed to find what seemed to be his dream home in the area: a 750 square foot duplex apartment on the first and second floor with a large private garden and within budget.

Toby and Simone, both 26, were looking to buy their first home, with a deposit of £45,000 and a maximum budget of £450,000.
However, the property had one major flaw: Toby and Simone had to walk through their neighbors’ gardens to get to theirs.
Although Simone liked the quirky design and said it was like having a “secret garden”, Toby himself was less convinced.
Toby, a logistics manager, said: “Walking through someone else’s garden doesn’t seem so accessible.”
Viewers of the show agreed and were shocked by the strange garden design, especially considering the £450,000 price tag.
They used X/Twitter to write: ‘Walking through a neighbor’s garden to get to your garden?’;
‘I would find it very unpleasant to walk through someone else’s garden. And rights of way always have the potential to create major disputes;
“Yes, these properties are nice and less than half a million for a flat is not good”;
‘Feel the love for young people who can’t afford to move up the property ladder. £450,000’;

‘2 kids and they’d get over it.’
Despite appreciating the interior of the apartment, Toby and Simone eventually fell in love with the second property they had seen in Woodford Green.
It cost £400,000, £50,000 cheaper than the Finchley flat, and had the advantage of having its own private garden.
The property was just three minutes from the main street, 15 minutes from the metro, with period charm but a modern interior.

Toby and Simone had been together for eight years after meeting at Newcomers’ Week at university, and were looking to buy their first home together before getting married.
The couple made a successful bid and were delighted with the result, although viewers pointed out that £400,000 was a high price for a relatively small apartment.
Earlier in the show, viewers criticized a woman for her decision to buy a “small” £1.25 million semi-detached house in south London – and complained about once again seeing an “unaffordable house” on the show .
Kat, a record-holding rower who works in risk management, was looking for a three-bedroom house in a period property in an area that had a ‘village’ feel.
Presenter Phil Spencer was on the case and showed Kat four houses in Greenwich, Earlsfield and Brixton Hill on Wednesday’s episode.
In the end he found success: Kat made him an offer on a house in West Greenwich, where she had dreamed of having an apartment within walking distance of her job in Canary Wharf.
Although Kat was perfectly happy with her decision, viewers branded her “crazy” for spending so much on a terraced house that needed renovations, and insisted she could get a lot more for her money if she moved out of the British capital.
