Lleucu George’s late miss hands Scotland historic victory as visitors survive late Wales comeback to secure 20-18 win and first Six Nations success in country in 20 years

Scotland survived Wales’ late comeback to secure a 20-18 victory, their first Women’s Six Nations victory on Welsh soil in 20 years.

In the 79th minute, after Alex Callender’s try, Lleucu George missed a conversion that would have secured the tie.

Scotland led through tries from Coreen Grant and Rhona Lloyd, while Sisilia Tuipulotu crossed to get Wales back into the game.

But Scotland did not suffer any upsets this year as they extended their winning streak to seven games.

Ireland suffered a losing start to their Six Nations campaign but avoided humiliation at the hands of France in a 38-17 defeat at Le Mans.

Twelve months after conceding nine tries to France and collecting the wooden spoon, Ireland at least offered resistance this time, with Aoife Wafer and Aoife Dalton crossing late for the visitors.
